Nuclear energy is harmful. The waste it produces has to be stored, and there are limited places to put it's toxic radioactive waste. Obama wants to increase the amount of nuclear power plants in America, as stated in his State of the Union speech. Tell him you disagree, before it's too late. This also sends the wrong message to those countries that America is trying to stop from having nuclear power, such as Iran and North Korea. The environmental dangers of one of these plants, or it waste, far outways the energy they produce. Already other greener energies exist like wave power, ocean current power, wind power, and solar power, to name a few. All these are capable of powering our nation. It is clear Obama is catering to lobbyists in the nuclear industry. Tell him NO!

Mr. President,
I am horrified by the idea creating more nuclear power plants. This is a backwards move. I will not vote for you again. Go to the site of Bloom Energy if you want to invest in something safe and clean: http://www.bloomenergy.com/bloom-energy-launch-event-staff/
Sincerely opposed to nuclear, Dale Luongo

The United States is becoming an uninhabitable wasteland due to irreversible industrial pollution of the air and water that sustains our people. We should be replacing our nuclear power plants with millions of small, local solar and wind power generating facilities nationwide. To build new nuclear or coal-fired power plants at this point in our history is as irresponsible and stupid as it would be to restart the cold war.
NUCLEAR IS NOT GREEN!

Please use the money for Health Care not nuclear energy. Consider a Hydrogen Solid which is easier to manage. Please protect the land and water that feeds us. Weather is unpredictable and dangerous. We can not be controlled a major storm affecting a Nuclear Power Plant, it's just a bad and dangerous idea. Who ever you're making deals with, just stop. Remember how you started and stay with the original plan.

Dear Mr. President,
I don't care who paid for your campaign and is dangling that over your head, you are a smart man and better man than most who thrust themselves into the center of attention in the public eye. Nuclear energy isn't nearly as cost effective, safe, renewable, clean, and efficient as solar, wind, tidal, wave, and geothermal energy sources. These are what we need to invest in: energy source that truly are clean and sustainable without the risk of radioactive decay or nuclear meltdown making everyone in the nearby area sick and sterile.
You are already in the White House and with all the resentment people are trying to build against you, you better do some good while you're in there. Don't tip-toe so much! That, more than anything, is detrimental to the perception of the President, historically speaking. But if you step up to your calling, if you be the man America desperately wants and NEEDS you to be, you can do more good than any other president before you in a shorter time span.
If Americans, from big cities to rural small towns, start seeing actual, physical changes in their community they are more apt to believe in you and stand behind you. We should be converting ALL uses of energy to renewable ones right now, and there is no reason other than pure, selfish laziness that would prevent such a successful and wealthy nation such as ours to do this.
Eight billion to nuclear power plants is one of the dumbest proposals I've ever heard from you; this isn't the 1950s. We need to do better than that. YOU need to do better than that. Our nation should invest in renewable energies provided by the earth, sun, and sea. We should be building the fastest, most efficient magnet trains, reconnecting the whole country again by way and railroad lines. Imagine it! If we invested in these things: real renewable energy, up-to-date transportation advancements, and education of our population, there could be no doubt that the US is a great nation.
As it stands now, right now there's a lot of doubt.
Build schools, not prisons. Use energy sources that need only be tapped, not created and used up. I don't care what they threaten you with (whoevers pocket your in) you are better than them and as long as you live up to the promise of your character and insight real, visible change and give real people honest opportunities to improves themselves and their communities, if you would protect our interests for the next few hundred years rather than just the next twenty, the American people will support you, we will protect you. It is time, Barrack Obama, and you are the first to really usher us into this new century. Don't let us be stagnant, don't get caught up in the childish, schoolhouse politics so many people turn to now and certainly don't believe them when they say you're hated. If people had honest information that wasn't so filtered and twisted by the politically owned media, the politics of this nation would be astoundingly different.
Most Americans do not participate in polls, they don't follow the news, but that doesn't mean they're hopeless. They are busy struggling with the burdens of society and their parents; they are waiting for someone like you to make things better.
Be bold, be true, be willing to admit mistakes, say you were wrong, and redirect your course of action. I'm warning you, if you do not do these things you will not be so kindly remembered as you could have been. Right now, at this time and place, you could be the instigator, the founder of the new United States, a clean, free, safe United States LEADING the WORLD in energy efficiency and education. YOU can make this happen, but so can I, and I'm warning you, if you continue to hold us back and make ridiculously stupid decisions such as building nuclear power plants rather than trains, schools, and geothermal plants, you will lose the support, and more importantly, the hope you cultivated in the tired minds of this nation during your campaign.
These things will happen, but we want them to happen WITHIN OUR LIFETIMES. You can do this and if you refuse and condemn this nation to wait, I fear anything could happen; there may not be a USA in 50 years if change is not seen NOW.

CAMPAIGN FOR IMMEDIATE AND URGENT RE-DIRECTION OF RECOVERY STIMULUS FUNDS TO SOLAR, WIND, HYDRO, AND OTHER TRULY SAFE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY. Nuclear plants are toxic, dangerous, and put all who live near them at risk, Especially in times of uncertainty over 'terrorism' and related national security issues. This is a very foolish issue to compromise with conservatives on. Nuclear facilities create self-destructing bombs in the event of international conflict. Nuklear power is a dangerous Frankenstein, not Change forward. Why is the crazy dinosaur idea of Nuke Plants, born in the Nazi era, and more often than not built and maintained by pro-Nazi corporations even considered for a moment as safe or wise? The old Uranverein-Siemens Nazi machine is indifferent to death, and progressive Germans and Austrians know this. So why are we going to open the door wide to their Neue Welt Ordnung? We thought times changed. What happened?
RE-DIRECT STIMULUS FUNDS TO SAFE TECHNOLOGY BEFORE WE PUT OURSELVES AT RISK OF BEING RADIATION-POISONED OR BLOWN UP.

Why try to protect us from one catastrophe by giving us another one? Nuclear energy is not clean. It if very dangerous and dirty. It is also very expensive. Just getting insurance for a nuclear power plant is difficult and the taxpayer will be left paying the bills. Please do not be an accomplice to endangering our health and well being. We have suffered enough from the corruption and greed of mortgage brokers and corporations. The Government stood by and let us fall into a financial ditch. Please do not let the same thing happen to us again. In addition to bailing out the Nuclear Industry, many innocent people could get cancer, and we are all in more danger from terrorism. Uranium is also mined, like coal is. I was dismayed to hear your funding plan for new nuclear reactors. I am your friend, and have supported all your social policies even if they did not benefit me. I believe that people aren't being totally honest with you in the same way people weren't totally honest about the financial shenanigans. Please do not let us down. It isn't fair to do what the opposition wants when the opposition doesn't care to take part in any of the legislation. If we can't work with them, at least let us remain true to our ideals. Thank you for working so hard for us. I supported all your other initiatives. I know it is hard to believe these threats are real when they are unseen. But just because you don't see viruses, that doesn't make them any less of a threat. Thank you again for all your hard work. I know you are being torn from all sides. But in the end, only being true to our values can save us.

Are we lazy? Are Americans really giving up on researching for renewable energy? People are going to be happy about the jobs the plants might create, however, people's health is at stake and so is the planet's. We need to keep researching for renewable energy and praise for a cleaner world, even China has less than 2% energy created by nuclear power.

Nuclear plants cannot be adequately protected from bombs, meteorites, aerial bombing in warfare and poor maintenance in countries with failing governments/economies. Even in the U.S. such maintenance is very complicated and difficult. Nuclear power plants are extremely high maintenance and require a weathy and well governed country to maintain them. We should stop building them and begin decomissioning the ones that we have as soon as alternative energy makes that possible. If we continue to build nuclear power plants we have very little or no credibility to tell other countries they cannot do so. We should lead by example. Take the billions from nuclear power and help the Native Americans who live in the western U.S. develop wind and solar energy projects. Native Americans in North and South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Arizona, New Mexico and other states have the best wind and solar resources in the U.S., they simply need investors to help them develop these resources. Because of the isolated location of many reservations Native Americans have the highest poverty and unemployment rates in the U.S....up to 80%. They could use the help.
