The Ionian islands are a very important flight path and stronghold for various migratory and resident birds. The rich vegetation and lush climate provides the ideal stopover for birds following their breeding routes between Northern Europe and Africa.
The hunting of migratory birds in the breeding season is strictly forbidden by European law, EU Wild Birds Directive 79/409 EEC, and yet the enforcement of such laws is poorly managed.

The loss of biodiversity must be halted. Extinction last forever, even with the help of DNA techniques and cloning, a species once lost may cause already strained ecosystems to collapse and then re-introduction will be impossible. Biodiversity sustain the resiliance of ecological networks and it is our duty and it ought to be our plesaure, to preserve it for future generation and for the sake of nature itself.

I have been in Zakynthos and you feel like being at the heart of a war the morning between 7 and 9 o'clock!!!
Stop this cruel and barbaric behavier whats wrong with the people of this world when we have no rainforests and no birds then maybe they'll be satisfied.
This illegal shooting has far-reaching implications, threatening bird populations from all over Europe, and as far as Africa. Indifference is as criminal as the shooting itself!
I think its disgusting that activities like this are still allowed to take place and that no one is doing anything about it. activites like this need to be stopped before its too late to save the different species.
