Many customers of natural gas are aware of carbon monoxide and explosion but are not aware they can be poisoned by unburned natural gas. Many gas companies are telling customers that it is safe and non poisonous but that is wrong. Natural gas is mostly methane which is not considered poisonous, it is an asphyxiant, meaning it takes away oxygen and suffocates the living to death. Chemicals that are listed as poisonous are added to the methane, making natural gas poisonous.

THis is a message from a citizen of Canada; asking that the MP's who have the power to change the laws about what Natural Gas can do to you, had better convince Big Brother to inform the public, before we all become toxic and dead. We elected you to take care of us not strangle us and deprive us of oxygen. There is no excuse, soap and water, to check for a leak, they have electronic meters that can measure the amount of natural gas in any area. Soap and Water is so, Eighties, this is 2009, Technology saves lives. Bonuses, Raises don't, it wouldn't hurt a few of you to eat a hot dog once in awhile either. |

No one but me could smell the leak, and I work from home so I've been exposed for 7 months that I've lived here. Yesterday I had my boyfriend turn off the gas to the stove and the heater. The smell has gotten better and I feel less tired & confused today. I am trying to get the rest of the odor out with a fan right now. The feeling of impending death was so strong & I have been so sick from these gas leaks. My 4 mth old grandson arrives cheerful to my home & about a half an hour later begins crying like he's in pain. I suspect the gas leak was affecting him somehow-headaches maybe? The public needs to know how dangerous these leaks can be to their health. The first thing I read online was that there are no ill health effects to exposure, it is a terrible lie!!! |

I almost died in my apartment with my 2 and 3 year old yesturday. There was a natural gas leak in the vent system of my apartment. I had severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, weakness of my limbs, numbness of my limbs, decreased vision, shortness of breath, sore throat, just to name the major symptoms. I called my sister to come get me because I was an inch from consciousness. I was losing life and didn't know why. I blamed myself for not drinking enough water. Everyone kept saying, "drink water, you are just dehydrated." I moved into my apartment August 7th and almost died August 31st. The smell of the gas was unbearable and the technician that came out told me that I was lucky to be alive. Both of my kids became ill with coughing and runny noses and weakness/tiredness. They are now staying with my mother until their health is back to normal. The leak is fixed and I will not allow them to come back home until the smell is gone. I am still here but I can't afford to leave my home. I just moved here and all my money is tied up in this place. I just pray to God and hope for the best. |
