Please end Prohibition of Alcohol in Gujarat, India, A chance to end a Policy which is breeding massive corruption, Discriminating and not letting Gujarat progress to her maximum potential.

Did you know that there is a policy 'PROHIBITION' which bans the sale of alcohol to the general people in Gujarat, India the worlds largest democracy trying to implement this Policy since more then 50 years without success as one of the higest consumptions of alcohol shockingly happens in Gujarat in India.

Mahatma Gandhi has suggested 'Prohibition' in his times to break the revenue backbone of the then ruling British in India. More then 30% of the revenue was from the taxes collected through the sale of alcohol during those times.

The People of Gujarat do Jobs & Business all over the world and are one of the highest tourist communities who simply love to travel, this Policy is breeding corruption beyond imagination since decades and the consumption is only increasing as such policies which are forced upon usually induces more consumption and harms more then what it really is supposed to do looking at such policies which failed miserably world wide in any democracy were they were tried to implement.

The Politicians say that Gujarat is progressing because of this Policy, at the same time most of Gujarat admits that the easiest thing to get in Gujarat is alcohol illegally through bootleggers, it means that people still consume so technically when this Policy is not working it has nothing to do with progress, in fact Gujarat is not progressing at its really potential which the whole world will watch in awe when the Policy goes.

The Poor, the Middle Class are made to believe that its in their interest this policy is there, if one really thinks Tourism, Entertainment and so many companies are not coming to Gujarat and flourishing reducing the Job opportunities and options and directly the labour rates that we believe that this Policy is only making these people  suffer.

Women are safe even though Gujarat consumes, We Gujaratis are cultured people and any change in any policy will not change our culture we respect our women and the State Government is responsible for Law and order situation so in the name of Fear please do not indirectly and directly convey that Gujaratis once allowed to drink will become anti social elements who will go around doing things which is against a livable social structure.

Mahatma Gandhi had advocated this policy to break the back bone of the British government before Independence in his fight against the British Rule. More then 30% of the revenue was from the sale of alcohol during those times and hence his idea was that if the Government coffers run dry it will be difficult for the Government to function. He never advocated any Policy which would breed corruption, discriminate and reduce the growth potential of the society, he also stated that any Policy is subject to change according to the times. His name is being Spoiled according to us as this policy is completely doing the opposite of his teachings.

Finally in a democracy, in a globalization period when for the first time in 300 years when India is progressing if such policies which are not solving any purpose remain in the future the state government can come up with more restrictions and Democracy is all about freedom to live and the right to choose without discriminating, the freedom of our future generations to live freely is also threatened

Please WE DO NOT NEED PROHIBITION IN GUJARAT, we the Gujarati people are mature enough to handle our drink and let Gujarat progress at her maximum potential spreading the wealth to one and all with increase spending of Gujaratis in Gujarat directly affecting the lesser income groups while the iron is hot.
