Community Shuttle bus on the Westside of Vancouver

The Westside Seniors Empowerment Coalition works to identify gaps in services for seniors, and works together to develop strategies to address them. The coalition is presently engaged in community meetings advocating for better transportation for seniors.

We, the undersigned, would like to make a request for a shuttle bus on Vancouvers Westside.

I strongly support the Westside Seniors Empowerment Coalition proposed shuttle bus for the Westside.

Based on current surveys conducted by the Westside Seniors Empowerment Coalition in 2007, 70% of seniors said in regards to the bus: walking from the bus stops to destinations is too long; that quite often the buses are very full and therefore they feel very unsafe when getting off the bus; and they also find it difficult having to make transfers.

81% of the people surveyed said they would very much like to have a shuttle bus on the Westside, especially for grocery shopping and medical appointments.

I appreciate your attention to this vital and important matter and much needed service within our community.
