Snaps looking lost, confused and broken at King County Animal Control.

Please save Snaps! SeaTac, Washington Pitbull to die!

Target:
King County Police Department, King County Animal Control
Sponsored by:

On June 22, 2009 a group of young teens were observed abusing a Pit Bull on the streets of Washington. When two women intervened the teens attacked them and then used the dog as a weapon against them. This was not the dogs fault. The only fault here is that of the teens that facilitated the attack. Even one of the victims acknowledges this. Fortunately both women are going to be okay. The dog, however, is going to die. The teens, the ones at fault, will probably get probation. This is not fair. This dog, Snaps, deserves justice. Look at his face, look into his eyes. It obvious he%u2019s never known any kindness and is a broken soul.

Please sign this petition urging King County, Washington officials to spare this dogs life. To hand him over to a rescue that can care for him and give him the sanctuary he deserves. Please help us to get Snaps to a place where he will know kindness and compassion for the first time in his life. He didn%u2019t deserve this. This poor dog has been punished enough in his young life.

Thanks for you time.

I feel we should give this poor dog a chance! Show him love and care and the results will be amazing. The majority of my pets have been abused and never have I had any reason to change ny mind. Animals give only love, unlike thier abusive owners.

By destroying an innocent animal used as a pawn, you are giving power to these delinquents and encouraging them to go ahead and do it again. Please keep in mind that the bullying and torturing of an animal is one of the first signs of psychopathic behavior. Society needs to do something other than make petty excuses for such deplorable behavior, and stop allowing the abuse of animals as its facilitation. I have found that dogs given a fair chance in life become the most loyal friends you could ever have. Give this poor creature a good, loving home, and he will be better for it long before these teenaged monsters, if given the same chance.

"Please" help and allow this dog to "go to a safe place" and to be allowed "to learn what it is like to be loved and safe". "Don't punish this innocent animal" because of the negligent behavior of it's owner.

You need to punish the DEED not the BREED. You know these teens are at fault and their criminal behavior will only escalate after the probation wears off. Don't punish the victim for Chrits sake. PUNISH the CRIMINAL-the TEENS who did this. You have witnesses who are telling you he did not do this. DO THE RIGHT THING-send these thugs and criminals a NEW message. Your not going to get away with this-it won't be blamed on the animal-you will pay for your mistake!

I have 3 dogs....they do as I ask.....they love me uncondiionally....to me, they are not just dogs....they are my family and deserve the same treatment as I do. If I trained them to protect me, they would do it. If I trained them to love everyone, they would do it. Snaps deserves to be spared and trained to love....he will do it. Remember, dog is just God spelled backwards. Do what God would do....Save him!

It seems so easy to kill poor animals who depend on us but that is just not the answer--we need to allow this poor abused dog to have a chance at a good life as a beloved pet. These teens have never been taught compassion but seem to have been allowed to run wild in the street and their actions are now causing the death of a living creature. Where is the justice in this situation? Shame on us for not being kind to this poor dog.

It is just plain wrong to blame the dog. It has been established, and verified by the oweners in court confession, that the owner was responsible for ordering the dog to attack. If this is an offence which is punishable by death, then it is the owner who should receive the punishment not the poor dog.

I have a pitbull. She is the best dog ever. Snaps is worth saving. They are smart dogs, and I am sure it can be a great dog. That teen needs to be put in jail for a long time. Save Snaps! It did not know what it was doing!

This is so awful! I hope that Snaps can end up in a safe environment. To kill this dog would be nothing short of savage!

Please give SNAPS a fair chance. Please let him be evaluated by an impartial party to see if he can be rehabilitated. SNAPS has been abused once in front of witnesses, who knows what he suffered at the hands of this monster behind closed doors.

Please think before you act. Yes, the dog attacked, but he was a tool. Every dog starts, and often remains, at the mercy of humans for its learning and its very life. As a helpless puppy, a canine learns only what we teach it, and tries its entire life to please. This dog, Snaps, performed only as it was told. Please turn it over to a Pitbull rescue organization that will retrain it and give it the kind of life and kindness it's never known. We all, animals and humans, have only one life. Isn't it a shame for this dog to die never having known a bit of how good it could be? Thank you.

As pits are not my dog of choice, I have been exposed to many that are wonderful, obedient, loyal pets. Snaps is a victim here in this situation and with some TLC could probably make a super pet.He deserves a chance.

Please give this poor abused soul a second chance at a life. His actions were not his fault but the fault of the dangerous youths who mistreated him. I am a pitbull owner and know first hand how wonderful and loyal these dogs are.

Please do not kill an innocent dog. This dog has never known love or kindness. The women that were hurt during this intervention obviously had a heart because they were trying to save Snaps from more abuse. This dog can be placed in a sanctuary or rescue, just as the pitbulls Michael Vick and his group abused so horribly. They can be rehabilitated as some of the Vick pitbulls have proven...they are now therapy dogs. Why kill an innocent dog when he was being abused and manipulated by several teens whose parents obviously don't care what they do and to whom or what. Take some action, not just a slap on the wrist and probation. The teens and parents should be punished. Susan DeWitt

Snaps was a victim of abusive teenagers. If Snaps can be shown love, respect and kindness Snaps will shown the same qualities back. Look at the Vicktory (Michael Vick) dogs for example. Those dogs were trained to fight and some now have jobs as therapy dogs. Snaps has feelings, Snaps felt abuse from those teenagers. Please let Snaps feel some love and kindness in his life time. Let Snaps have a chance at finding a home.

Please find it in your hearts to find a home for snaps. So many times I have seen pits raised by idiots, and this case is no difference. Snaps deserves to have the love that he was denied.

You don't know if the dog can be rehabilitated or not until it is evaluated by a professional. Give the dog a chance with a good and reputable rehab facility or have a person from that facility come and evaluate the dog first before deciding it's fate. This is only fair to the dog. According to the article the dog attacked the elderly woman in response to it's owners command. With the beating it took from her and her friends initially it stands to reason the animal would do whatever it is told to please it's owner. If this is the case then it would stand to reason that a new owner with a different agenda would also be able to control this animal...it only wants to please. Have the animal evaluated first, PLEASE, for the animal's sake. Thank you Please note: I am not a fan of Pit Bulls but every animal deserves a chance.

Snaps is a victim here! His "owner" is a 16-year-old wanna-be felon who was kicking him and abusing him in public before turning her anger & hatred on two women who questioned her behavior!! Snaps was doing what his owner told him to do--she sicced him on the women!! He attacked because it is a DOG'S NATURE TO PLEASE THE OWNER!! Michael Vick's dogs that had been used in fighting were rehabilitated--give Snaps the same opportunity!!!! (The links for pit bull rehabilitation centers are on the 3rd page of the KOMOTV.com Comments section regarding Snaps' story.)

I recall the news coverage of this travesty. This happened in my neighborhood. The teens ordered the dog to bite, and he did so only reluctantly. The mother of one of the teens disputed the account of the victims and witnesses. The mother is trash as are the teens. I doubt very much that Animal Control is happy about the prospect of putting the dog down. They are faced with an owner eager to put the dog down to put this event behind her and keep her scuzzy teen out of trouble. The only meager hope for this dog is to appeal to an animal group like Best Friends that is equipped to take a dog for the rest of its life.
