STARWOODGATE: The Cover-Up. Stop corruption and greed in the worldwide hospitality industry

  • by: The People
  • recipient: Frits van Paasschen (CEO Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc); Bruce Duncan (Chairman) and the entire Board of Directors; Krister Svensson (GM St Regis Bangkok)

Our main aims and objectives (all of which are in the public interest):

- To enable a probe into the worldwide operation of Starwood Hotels and Resorts      Worldwide Inc* (hereafter Starwood) to be led by US state and federal                prosecutors, SEC legal / compliance teams and investment regulators

- Alternatively, to initiate a class action against Starwood in the USA

- To close and condemn any illegal hotels and operations, starting with the St Regis Bangkok

The Rationale: A probe is timely because Starwood refuses to discuss any of the issues listed below by means of an appropriate legal protocol. Investigative research covering a period of seven years has yielded overwhelming evidence to suggest with good reason and without prejudice or malice that (for example):

$ Starwood commits human rights abuses and creates human suffering

$ Starwood ridicules public health and safety and knowingly puts people in harm's way

$ Starwood supports the intimidation of local community members who dare to voice an opinion

$ Starwood knowingly breaches its own company codes of practice and ethics

$ Starwood is seen to engage in corporate-wide corruption and fraud

$ Starwood breaks international and local laws pertaining to PLCs

$ Starwood violates SEC and stockmarket regulations

The people can make a difference. Stamp out corruption in the hospitality                industry. Those invited to support this petition include:

* People whose lives and livelihoods are threatened or affected by Starwood              operations: -  international tourists, hotel employees, local communities,                members of the general public, service providers, travel agents, brokers and investors

* People who abhor corrupt, greedy corporations that tarnish the USA's public           image worldwide

* Royal dignitaries, heads of state, diplomats, corporate executives, VIPs,                chamber members, MICE organisers, wedding and banqueting agents etc                who utilise Starwood facilities

Final consideration:

"Starwood's reputation is one of our most valuable assets...it is what enables us to not simply be a good company but to be a great company - achieving our goals while conducting our business with the highest moral and ethical standards"  Frits van Paasschen (CEO Starwood)

Starwood does not walk the talk and corporate executives are demonstrating an astonishing level of irresponsibility and professional negligence. The current "profit before safety" mindset endangers hotel guests, harms the environment, damages lives and destroys communities. Your support and our eventual actions should compel Starwood to rethink its ruthless and unscrupulous business model

* Starwood owns and operates the following brands: St Regis; Sheraton; The Luxury Collection; W Hotels; Westin; Le Meridien; Four Points by Sheraton; Aloft; Element by Westin
