The Hogle Zoo located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Has kept over the years, 11 elephants. Two at the present, Christie (female): born 1986, received at Hogle Zoo 1988. Has now suffered through 28 years of captivity, behind bars.
Zuri (female): born August 10, 2009 at Hogle Zoo to Christie. Seven years Captive.. Never seeing the wild.
Of the eleven elephants brought into this zoo, all but the current two. never made it out alive.
Nine Elephants have parished in this one zoo......
These elephants are forced to learn circus trick's, such as standing on their heads, as well, they are forced to paint. As we all know, elephants don't stand on their heads just by asking them to. This is done by cruel and abusive methods of training.
Dari, was the Matriarch elephant, who sadly held the record for the longest-lived African elephant in America She was euthanized on Aug. 8, 2015 at the age of 55 by staff. Dari came to Hogle Zoo in 1967. She spent 48 years, captive. The zoo incorrectly said "At 55 years old, she outlived the average life expectancy for elephants in the wild by 13 years". 42 is not the normal life expectancy of African elephants in the wild. It is between 60-70 years old.
This Zoo seems to have a hard time keeping their elephants alive. For the sake of Zuri and her Mother, they should be moved immediately to a sanctuary.
This is not the life Elephants were meant to live. These elephants have been abused for human entertainment and financial gain.
IT'S PAST TIME THIS CRUEL AND ABUSIVE ZOO RELEASE ALL THEIR ELEPHANT'S IMMEDIATELY TO A SANCTUARY SUCH AS THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY IN TENNESSEE.
There, they would have the opportunity to roam acres of natural habitat, play in a pond, forage for fresh vegetation, befriend other elephants, and enjoy a full, healthy, and enriched life.
WE DEMAND THE HOGLE ZOO RELEASE THESE INNOCENT ANIMALS IMMEDIATELY!
