Save the Polar Bears and Stop the Polar Bear Rug Trade

This week the United States is poised to take a huge step toward protecting polar bears from one of their greatest threats: the trade in fur and body parts. While the loss of sea-ice habitat to global warming remains the greatest challenge to the survival of the species, hundreds of polar bears are killed to make rugs every year.

Thursday is the deadline for countries to submit resolutions under an internantional treaty that would ban, but only if the United States introduces the resolution
