Demand for the Right to Have SP/NP for the FALL 20/21 Semester

The Ministry of Education in United Arab Emirates has communicated their decree regarding the grading system for students of higher education, disregarding the misfortunate incidents that both doctors and students have went through. As of Fall20/21, students can no longer request a "Special Pass/No Pass" for their courses, which can majorly affect the student's grades and their overall career-led future. "Special Pass/No Pass" was implemented last year as an option to grade and mark the student's efforts through-out the semesters, given the amount of hardships every faculty-member and student have went through with online learning and examinations , the option was offered to facilitate an ease to some of those hardships.

Now, with all the stress and hardship that everyone is experiencing during these times, M.o.E. of U.A.E. sudden notice is greatly effecting both instructors and students morale. A few of weeks notice of such a change is detrimental to a university faculty and students, given its urgency and their prior expectations.

We implore MOE to reconsider the timing, at least for the current semester esp. that other universities in the country already have the chance to offer "SP/NP" for their students, and we are only hoping that ADU would join them and support its students.

Speaking on behalf of ADU students, thanks for taking the matter into consideration and giving us the time to read the petition.
