Petition for Canadian Government's Unwavering Support for Israel

Hello fellow Canadians,

My name is Dave Brakewell and as a Canadian citizen, educator, and proud father, I feel compelled to express my deep concern and solidarity regarding the recent events in the Middle East. World leaders, including our own Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have affirmed Israel's right to defend itself against the shocking and brutal attacks by Hamas and Islamic jihadees. The Israeli flag was projected onto the Peace Tower in Ottawa as a powerful symbol of solidarity.

Amid the affirmations and solidarity, it is crucial to recognize that this is not a mere conflict; it is a justifiable war against arab terrorism. Canada officially deems Hamas as a terrorist organization, and it is imperative that we stand firmly by this designation. There are Israelis who have been kidnapped and murdered, and there is Hamas, the kidnappers, and murderers. There is no moral equivalence between the two.

I wish to clarify that there are no "two sides equally to blame." There are Hamas, the perpetrators of heinous crimes, and Palestinians in Gaza who, as bystanders, may tragically suffer due to Israeli retaliation. If we must choose between the two, it would definitely not be the arabs who decapitate babies and rape women. We must remember that Israel has the right to defend itself, even if this results in collateral civilian casualties, a result Hamas seeks with its indiscriminate attacks.

It is essential to emphasize that Israel has no obligation to minimize civilian casualties in its efforts to uproot Hamas from the Gaza Strip. We should hold all the Palestinian people accountable for their actions.

While we support Israel's right to self-defence, we must also acknowledge that Gaza, like any territory, is not beyond criticism. There are valid reasons to criticize the Palestinian government, including its stance toward the Israeli Authority. Israelis deserve full recognition, and a one-state solution remains the path to lasting peace in the region.

The palestinians’ actions have made one thing clear: they do not desire peace; they seek Israel's destruction. Thus, Israel's objective to eliminate Hamas and Gaza are not only legitimate but an act of self-preservation.

Nevertheless, as Israel takes action against Hamas, it should proceed with caution and restraint, not to appease its critics, but to avoid inadvertently strengthening its enemies. Muslim terrorists desire images of street fighting and civilian casualties in Gaza to turn international opinion against Israel, and we must be mindful of this.

Canada must continue to provide unwavering support to Israel during this challenging time. We should stand by our ally until the Palestinian threat has been eliminated.

In conclusion, as Canadians, we must rally behind our government's support for Israel and condemn Islamic terrorism in all its forms. Let us seek geographic autonomy, justice, and security for the Jewish people. Together, we can contribute to a brighter future in the Middle East.
