SECESSION FROM KENYA IS NOT THE ANSWER

    INTRODUCTION
The 'PETITION OF KENYAN PEOPLES' FOR RIGHT TO SELF DETERMINATION' is slowly but surely gaining traction. To some people, it looks like a justified move in the wake of human rights violations in the hands of the government agencies, economic discrimination, electoral malpractices and state sanctioned assassinations. However, simply this is not the solution.

SECESSION DOES USUALLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
When South Sudan gained its independence from mainland Sudan in 2011, the country thought it would solve its problems via secession. Six years later, she is worse that she was before the secession. The same can be said of Pakistan when it seceded from India, Bangladesh from Pakistan, Kosovo from Serbia, Eritrea from Ethiopia the list goes on and on. Nations that have seceded struggle to establish themselves both economically and institutionally and the problems that they were running from usually follow them to their new home. Additionally, the UN in most cases, fail to recognize nations born of secession in accordance to some statutes in the UN constitution regarding respect to member countries territorial integrity.

    THE REAL PROBLEM
Is it true that the former Central province is the most developed save for Nairobi? Yes! Is it true that most industries are located there too? Yes! Is it true that promising leaders have been assassinated, human rights trampled upon, elections constantly rigged? All these are true. But since the 2010 constitution was promulgated, these same ills have trickled down to the counties. It is not therefore a regional problem nor is it a tribal problem but rather a national ill.

The game of politics is to gain power and amerce more power. the Odinga family controls Nyanza, the Uhuru family controls Central Kenya etc. If secession were to occur, the problems within this country would not stop but only grow worse within the confines of the new states.

    SOLUTION.
Power belongs to the people of Kenya. The international community listens to the voice of the people. We have it in ourselves the voice to solve the ills we see. We can go to the streets in peaceful demonstrations, we can go the courts of law to challenge the powers that be, we can write to the UN, the AU for assistance in line with international law. The forth estate can and SHOULD lead in this march for liberation from corruption, human rights violations, neo-colonialism and the digging of truths concerning historical injustices, the TJRC report should be implemented to the latter.

    CONCLUSION
There is seldom any great strides gained from secession, we can solve the problems we have not by running away from them but facing them. I DO NOT SUPPORT SECESSION, YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER. It is cowardly.
