"New York City lawmakers have passed a bill that bans restaurants and grocery stores from selling foie gras, the fattened liver of a duck or goose.
"The bill, which is expected to be signed by Mayor Bill de Blasio, would ban the sale of the delicacy starting in 2022. Animal welfare activists had campaigned for a ban on the grounds that the methods used to produce foie gras are cruel.
"Usually, it involves force-feeding a bird through a tube briefly slipped down its throat," reported CNBC.
Imagine what life is like for these birds.
You live in a cage, hardly able to move.
And all that you have to look forward to is a tube being shoved down your throat, and food you don't want forced into your gut.
Don't you think that kind of life would be miserable and hellish?
"California banned the sale of foie gras in 2012.
"The state's ban was challenged in federal court, but an appeals court eventually upheld the ban," CNBC continued.
They also noted that two farms, Hudson Valley Foie Gras and the La Belle Farm located near New York City, collectively raise 350,000 birds.
Let that number sink in...
350,000 birds forced to endure misery, until they are slaughtered so that rich people can devour their fattened liver.
And that is only two producers.
