Objection to FRCR High Registration Fee Charges

  • by: Amber Jean
  • recipient: Fraser Coast Regional Council for Hervey Bay and Maryborough
We the undersigned do not agree to the unfair fee schedule charged by the Fraser Coast Council in 2013.

We would like the Fraser Coast Council to consider alternatives:

(a)Price reduction from the current $51 registration fee to drop between $0 and $12 for each desexed and microchipped dog or cat, AND/OR
...
(b)Paying a family fee for registration for life at $12 (includes two dogs and two cats, all desexed and microchipped), AND/OR

(c)Registration periods being made available with variable costs, discounted to less than pro-rata $51pa: at 12 months, 3 years or lifetime of the pet, AND/OR

(d) Lifetime registration should be given as an option to all who's pets are both microchipped and desexed with a $2 admin charge per new tag and $9 replacement tag charge, AND/OR

(e) Adopting best practice of a Taylored Schedule of fee's also based on the OWNER's financial status in addition to responsible ownership (desexed and microchipped animal):
â–  variations based on pets age
â–  whether the pet is microchipped and or desexed.
â– Pet's who have enclosures and are not left to roam the streets ( with proof provided to council )
â– The schedule of fee's should not be a one size for everyone and everything, but offer alternatives and reward responsible pet ownership.

As a final request please do not fine people $220 within the following categories

1. owners of desexed, registered and microchipped cats that are not wearing a collar due to pet safety reasons
2. owners of more than 2 unregistered older animals (8+ years) that are desexed
