Demand an End to the 14th Dalai Lama's keynote speech on UCSD Commencement

UC San Diego decided to honor the 14th Dalai Lama as the keynote speaker of the All Campus Commencement this year. As Chinese students, we have witnessed the changes of US policy (Muslim Ban), and we are sorry to see a similar action in UC. We always appreciate the studying and living environments that UCSD has strived to create for immigrants and international students. We also understand the freedom of speech and press guaranteed by the first amendment and love to hear different opinions from others. However, a political criminal like 14th Dalai Lama is not one of them, especially on commencement. Betraying the agreement with Chinese government, 14th Dalai Lama instigated a secession in Tibet and was defeated in 1959. He went on exile in India and never came back to China. It's obvious that such a hostile speaker of commencement would hurt the feelings of a large number of Chinese graduates.
