Opposition to Breed-Specific Legislation in British Columbia

A distraught father looks to have Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) imposed on British Columbians against having Pit Bulls after his daughter suffered a serious injury.
It is understandable for anyone to be upset by this event, but the whole breed and the families of innocent dogs should not have to suffer for it. Please show your support for education over ineffective legislation by signing this petition.

Pit Bulls were called the nanny dog for a reason... ANY breed of dog can become violent. The owner is what matters, not the breed. BSL targets the wrong end of the leash.

Though available information on statistics is minimal, there is still enough available to show that BSL is ineffective and only goes to hurt the dogs and families involved.

This American FAQ article gives a good deal of information about what Breed Specific Legislation involves (including costs), examples of the wide range of breeds that have been targeted by BSL, reputable organizations that oppose BSL, and better methods to manage the issue than imposing BSL.
