I'm a single mother of two beautiful children. A 12 years old daughter and a 5 years old boy. My son was born with Down Syndrome and many health problems. When he was born he was in the hospital for a year and has been in an out ever since. Due to his medical needs and his long hospital stays it has been difficult for me to work. My son has trachea stenosis grade 3, a trachestomy, hypothiroidism, asthma, lung desease, bronchomalacia, congenital heart defects, pulmonary hypertension, g-tube fed, wears glasses, etc. Thanks to the doctors and my care, he is here with us and is a happy boy. This situation is very stressful mentally and physically for a parent. My life are my children. Because of my difficulty to work, my income is very limited and it's very hard to provide with a spacious place to live where my son can have all his supplies, medical equipment, nursing care and also space for him to play and be a kid. I believe that parents like myself should have access to comfortable and affordable places to live based on their income without making them be on waiting lists that take months and sometime years to get a place they can afford. They should be able to focus on their child's well been instead of having more burden on how they can provide a roof over their family shoulders. I'm starting this petition because there should be help for parents like my self, that are taking care of a child with medical needs, finding a place to live shouldn't be a problem or take time from their child care. Something so basic like a roof over our shoulder should be available to us without stress or difficulty.
