Drop the 700 Club from Freeform
Freeform is a cable station owned by Disney. They feature Pat Robertson's 700 Club in the evening.
On October 1, 58 innocent people were gunned down while attending a county music concert in Las Vegas. The perpetrator had 23 firearms in his hotel room, which he used to indiscriminately kill mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fiancees, recent high school graduates, people from all parts of the U.S. and even Canada.
For many, this was a once in a lifetime trip. One attendee was going to use the event to propose to his girlfriend. She sadly died that evening. One man died shielding his wife of one year. They were there to celebrate.
Under such sad circumstances, Pat Robertson had this to say on the 700 Club regarding why he believes the shooting in Las Vegas happened, ""You know, what I'd like to give you is the fact that we have disrespect for authority. There is profound disrespect of our President all across this nation. They say terrible things about him." He went on to say, "There's disrespect now for our National Anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system, all the way up and down the line, disrespect." He ties this to God's wrath.
This isn't the first time Pat has used tragic events to disparage victims. When hurricanes hit the East Coast, he claimed the hurricanes were the result of God's wrath against America's acceptance of gays. Pat, who claims to be a Christian and pastor should know that Christians are commanded to love their neighbors and not judge that they be not judged, words he has failed to live by.
Freeform runs shows that feature single-parent families, gay characters, and other socially relevant characters and issues. It also shows family oriented shows and movies.
In a time where hate and intolerance is on the increase in America, we don't need Freeform to allow a self-obsessed man spewing more hate to further divide Americans.
I am therefore calling on Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, parent company of Freeform, to immediately cancel the 700 Club from its Freeform channel. We don't need Pat Robertson our children with his form of hatred and intolerance.
