Stop illegal killings of Strays in municipality of Bosanski Brod, Bosnia

In the village of Donja Vrela, Bosnia and Herzegovina is bloody massacre of stray dogs going and then they will be transported to the landfill as waste.

Horrific scenes of bloody corpses of dogs that are transported to a landfill in the village of Donja Vrela is observed. People are being denied access to the landfill because the same people who commit the massacre, are also guardians of the landfill.

People with pets have lost their dogs.
There is suspicion that these dogs also have ended up in landfill.

Excerpts of a letter from a citizen in the village:
That morning, our dog Aradia shortly disappeared from the yard, shocked by shots. We have sought him from 7:30 'till 11h at shorter intervals, and again at 13.15 h. Today we learn that the the action started early in the morning from 6.30, ie Saturday, 12.9. 2009. We know the killings will last until December 2009. The killing of dogs and cats that took place in the center of the city and the metropolitan area and the territory surrounding the village. We received information from citizens that are armed hunters marched through the city and were killing dogs on the spot in front of them. Many citizens were outraged. My parents have seen a trailer full of dead dogs when our hunters came to the house, after we contacted them, they came to us "to convince us that our dog is not there.." The next morning, Sunday 13.09. armed hunters, went next to our building and my brother from the window saw a trailer full of freshly killed dogs. Scene for a good morning! Dogs were also killed and collected in a trailer by mentioned hunters from hunting society. we don't have photos of hunters who have killed dogs, but these went into two groups. The group that came at us in an attempt to convince us that our dog was not killed is known to us and we mention them by name. We know all the hunters from hunting associations Vu%u010Dijak . I turned to the Hunters' Association, explaining to them what happened because we think the alliance should be referred to the law on the use of weapons and with other laws because it is what they also directly put Hunting Association on the spot as a violation of hunting and a must put an end to it. Someone must stop this inhumane, illegal and extremely dangerous aktions. Or we will quietly wait for someone "to euthanize" us with lead in bed at 6.30 a.m. I purchased the RTRS and contact number and address and we will help them. In two forums, we started threads about the massacre that happened in our city. On our facebook profile, people whose pets are also killed are contacting us, so that the final number is unknown. The Mayor of the municipalities of Bosanski Brod will be informed. We will conduct lawsuits against all those responsible, if the person fails to take legal steps to stop this massacre and never repeat, do not open the shelter to which dogs will be permanently placed, human being sued, and publicly called for genocide against legitimate. If the Municipality decides take steps in accordance with the law to stop such action we are ready to engage in litigation with the municipality.
To Whom It May Concern,

It has come to my attention that the innocent dogs and cats of Bosanki Brod have been hunted and maliciously killed by hunters, this action illegally sanctioned by community officials. Furthermore, I have been notified that the targeted dogs and cats include those who are homeless or strays as well as those, despite having identifying markers such as collars, kept as family pets or companions. Desperate family members, struck with grief over the loss of their beloved animal friends, have sought answers, their attempts ignored, their sadness disregarded. While words fail to sufficiently convey the agony experienced due to the deliberate, brutal, and premature death of a cherished animal companion, I am adequately capable of expressing my outrage at such tyrannical rule, spreading fear and circulating propaganda to foster support from established hunting groups unwilling to observe morality. I am also addressing the European Union as being complicit in this massacre as well, having funded hunting lodges in Posavina.

I stand with my international neighbors in one global collective to condemn these indefensible acts against animals; as one unified body bringing voice to those whom you slaughtered, we demand justice for the slain animals and retribution on behalf of their families. While community members may feel either intimidated or challenged by this type of barbaric and oppressive behaviour, please remember that a worldwide audience exists, enraged witnesses to such ruthless actions. When you strike an animal with such unprovoked brutality, the blows are felt by us all; when a family loses an adored member, the sorrow is felt by us all. We denounce this brutality and every person who promotes it. It is with sadness compounded with anger that I write, imploring upon you to provide the adequate resources necessary to investigate these savage crimes, apprehend those responsible, and prosecute the offenders according to international standards. Surely there are those in positions of influence who share our grief and anger, unwilling to participate in such unwarranted, sadistic crimes against animals. While greed and brutality may seem pervasive, it is my hope that there are those who believe in courage, dignity, and empathy towards all sentient beings and who will feel galvanized to undertake this effort on behalf of our animal friends and their human companions.

Please allow me to illustrate the importance of acknowledging animals as possessing sentience: indeed, animals, like humans, are capable of fear, love, pain, and suffering; humans have the obligation and the capacity for empathy, and we must utilize our gifts to protect them, not apathetically condemn them to undeniably criminal and exceptionally insufferable acts. Bosanki Brod's disregard and exploitation of this vulnerable group of beings is unacceptable and the global community will continue to voice censure of Bosanki Brod, and Bosnia as a whole, resulting in the sacrifice of vital tourism and commerce profits. Consequently it would be financially irresponsible and socially unethical for you to be associated with such a maligned event. Therefore, I respectfully request that you please act in a compassionate and empathetic manner and terminate this savage hunt against innocent animals.

Be a representation of animal compassion and strive to foster an ideal whereby animals are respected, loved, and empathized by all your citizens. Allocate resources to construct shelters; implement sterilization and vaccination programs to prevent homeless populations and colony disease outbreaks; accept local and international advice and assistance; and implement and enforce laws establishing animal cruelty as criminal. As a result, we are confident that yours can be a community, indeed a country, that others will look upon with pride and ambition to echo your empathetic attitude towards our sentient animal friends.
