Students Need to Be Educated on Environmental Problems

Continuing on with the of using fossil fuels will lead this planet into its demise. Each person needs to take responsibility and take action to improve the quality of the Earth we live on. We only have one planet and once all of its resources are used up, we have a big problem. Many Americans are uninformed on the environmental issues we are facing today and in the future. In fact, many still deny that climate change is actually happening. We already have to deal with the effects of human impact on the environment, but it's only going to get worse in the future. We need to educate the children of today now so they know how to live with the problems left by us that they must face tomorrow.
By signing this petition, you inform the U.S. government that we want the future generations that will be in charge of this country and will have to live through disaster if nothing is done, that they need to be educated on environmental issues. The federal government needs to enact legislation that requires all students enrolled in public school to take an environmental course during their high school careers. This class should consist of: showing the affects of continued fossil fuel use, an over-all explanation of climate change, information on what can and cannot be recycled, renewable energy, and how to be a sustainable citizen within their communities and globally.
