Students request the refurbishment of the floor in the new sports hall!

The new floor in the new Sports Hall in the Stevenson building has proven to be unsafe to play on. It is highly slippery and has caused several injuries and falls during training and games for multiple sports, including basketball, netball, volleyball and badminton. Games both in netball and baketball that have taken place in this hall have on multiple occasions been moved to the old Activity Hall on demand of the referees. Some visiting teams have refused to play on the court. It is a health & safety issue. Students are at much higher risk of sprained and broken ankles and knee injuries tat may even result in ACL tears.
Whilst we are aware that an independent slip test was carried out and was passed, our personal experience on the court does not reflect those results.

We as student athletes at Glasgow University request that the floor is refurbished so that it is fit to play on without the fear of getting injured.
