It is so disturbing that several facilities continue to use animals in their programs for the purpose of studies, research and medical testing.  Such is the case at a Mississippi University where the use of pigs is part of their regular curriculum despite many efforts to stop this cruel practice.

Read some of the information at https://secure2.convio.net/pcrm/site/Advocacy?id=429The PCRM is concerned and has filed complaints against this particular university and is asking for our support on this issue.  Such practices is a violation of Mississippi animal cruelty laws which the administrators of the school continue to ignore.  As noted in the above article, these poor pigs endure catheters placed within their veins and arteries, inject them with drugs and other abusive methods of probing and prodding.  Further methods by students eventually leads to the death of these poor pigs.

The faculty and administrators at UMMC have been asked multiple times to stop these practices and such pleas have fallen on deaf ears!  Our efforts in this petition is to speak volumes to them with your help and have these practices of animal abuse stopped permanently once and for all.  You can help make your voices heard by signing and sharing this petition.  Please help us with this initiative to ensure the safety of all animals, banning the use of pigs as part of the school curriculum.

LouAnn Woodward, M.D. Dean and Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs at University of Mississippi Medical Center – It appears, according to reports that you have been in violation of Mississippi animal cruelty laws by using pigs as part of your school curriculum.  You have been asked countless times to stop these practices, which is clearly animal abuse and cruelty.  There are many other non-animal methods that you could use to teach students rather than teaching them it is okay to abuse an animal in the name of science and research.  In essence, your students are also learning how to go on and become animal abusers in their own lives.  Stop these practices of using pigs or any other animal, teach your students to respect animals and learn their studies in safer non-abusive manners.
