I, Juana Tori, ask you to grant my son José Mariano Llanca Tori clemency for humanitarian reasons.
Clemency For My Son.
My name is JUANA LAUDELINA TORI QUEIPUL, I am 60 years old, I live in the community of Temu Cui Cui in the commune of Ercilla, IX Region. I am the mother of José Mariano Llanca Tori; a Mapuche who is serving a sentence in the prison of ANGOL. As a mother I am living in agony to see that my child is wasting away by his illness in prison.
He is 40 years old, unfortunately he is very ill, suffering from a chronic terminal disease with a very poor prognosis, as published in alternative Mapuche media. All I ask is to have the opportunity to care for my child in this difficult time, having him on my lap to alleviate his pain.
I already lost a son of 38 years on July 27, 2013 by the same disease; I can not keep waiting for the days pass to care and support my son José in his pain.
He, through his lawyer, friends and people who sympathize with his cause, has asked the previous government and the current authorities to grant him clemency, to return home and be cared for by me in his illness, it is a humanitarian request but he has had no response to this day. Every day that passes is a day less for him, I live full of uncertainty and grief for my son. We have even applied to the united Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples James Anaya to intercede in his favor, we do not know where else to turn for help.
I call on the president Ms. Michelle Bachelet to grant clemency to my son José Llanca.
He has served much of his sentence, he can be granted clemency, it is for humanitarian reasons, he is very ill, there are no suitable conditions in prison to cope with his disease. Now I, his mother, am requesting your support and solidarity for this humanitarian gesture for my son, to be able to look after him and support him in his complex illness, in my house, with me...
