Beau is only a five-month-old boxer puppy, but his front left leg has been amputated, his jaw broken, and his skull fractured twice. He used to live in St. Petersburg at 46th Street and 57th Avenue. On Friday, The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Tampa Bay offered a $500 reward for additional evidence on this puppy's abuser.

The terrible ordeal of Beau began in May when the puppy's owner, Rebecca Walker said the puppy broke his leg when he accidentally got it caught in a door. One month later Beau broke his leg again. This time Kat Burke called the SPCA abuse hotline.

Beau was surrendered to Burke who took the dog for veterinary treatment. According to TBO.com the previous owner of the dog, Rebecca Walker asked for a restraining order against her husband Todd Walker for domestic violence shortly after the injuries to Beau. She stated her husband was "watching my dog Beau" and that he called later that day and said the dog was on the couch whining in pain.

There has been a lack of cooperation and inconclusive evidence as to the abuse and torture of Beau.

Beau's leg was beyond repair after the second break which resulted in the need to amputate.

Kat Burke has since fallen in love with Beau and adopted him.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the connection between domestic violence and animal cruelty continues to concern both the police, the courts, and animal protection organizations. A Texas study revealed that batterers who also abuse pets are much more dangerous and use more violence to control their victims as compared to those who do not harm animals.
