Protect our kids and our creek from COM's New Maintenance Facility!

The College of Marin (COM) is building a new Maintenance and Operations facility on a former playing field adjacent to the Kent Middle School and Corte Madera Creek. They never disclosed to the public that they plan to use the site to collect and transfer trash, store hazardous materials, and house the maintenance vehicles and equipment for the entire COM Kentfield campus. They claimed that the new facility will cause "no significant impact" on the public school or the creek without disclosing these intended uses and purposely avoided conducting an Environmental Impact Review (EIR).

COM needs to stop the project until the full use of the site is disclosed to the public and a plan is made to mitigate any potential impacts to the 600+ students at Kent Middle and the Corte Madera Creek watershed.

Don't give up hope! We're still working behind the scenes. In the meanwhile, please send David Coon, Greg Nelson, and the COM Trustees emails with your individual concerns. They need to keep hearing from the community!

REMINDER: The Kentfield Schools PTA is hosting a PUBLIC MEETING this MONDAY JANUARY 13th at 7:00pm in the Kent Middle School Library. COM President David Wain Coon and others will be providing info and answering questions about the COM M&O Facility project. Come to learn more about it and share your concerns. Let's pack the meeting to show that we want the project stopped until an independent review is done so that all the potential impacts are assessed and mitigated. Hope to see you there!

Friends of Kent Kids and Creeks - Wow! We are overwhelmed by the response this petition has received from our community! Some of you have asked about our goal (which we're almost near!). TBH, it was set by the site;-) We want as many signatures as possible when we give it to the COM President when he and their administration return to work on January 6th. So please keep spreading the word, visit www.kentfieldkidsandcreeks.org, and stay tuned for more news and action items. Thanks for caring!

Thank you for signing the petition demanding COM stop construction of the new Maintenance and Operations facility adjacent to Kent Middle School and the Corte Madera Creek and conduct a proper EIR.
