Connecticut - Ensure Stricter Charges & Penalties for All Intentional Animal Abuse, Neglect and Cruelty

Unless penalties and charges for animal abuse, cruelty and neglect become more stringent, such crimes will not stop and defenseless animals will continue to fall victim to abusers.  Implications and repercussions need to be stricter in order to be effective in protecting animals. Connecticut has considered some stricter penalties for animal abuse, since most states have now implemented felony charges in some but not all instances and cases.  Read more on Connecticut laws at http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/html/cruelty_laws.html & http://www.azhumane.org/get-involved/be-an-advocate/animal-welfare-legislation/

Although many states like Connecticut have changed laws regarding penalties for animal abuse, cruelty and neglect but with variations and intentions.  There is never a reason to cause intentional harm and/or death to an animal.  In some instances, accidents and actions for self-defense do occur and seriously need to be proven when it comes to repercussions for harming an animal.  These defenseless creatures need and deserve humans to step in and ensure that abusers be held accountable for any and all forms of intentional animal cruelty.  Such proposed penalties need to ensure any and all offenses against an animal be classified as a felony.  Along with the felony offense and appropriate consequences, the offender would be listed as a registered animal abuser that would prevent future mistreatment, ownership and encounters with any animals for a lifetime, guaranteed.  Strict measurements need to be taken and fully enforced in order to put an end to such animal cruelty.

Connecticut State Legislators – It is commendable that states nationwide have escalated some of their charges for animal cruelty from a misdemeanor to a felony but too many cases still fall short of appropriate penalties.  I urge you to implement stricter animal cruelty penalties that would ensure any and all offenses against an animal is classified as a felony.
