R-410a is a refrigerant that is FORCED upon the HVAC trade...and it it FAR from effective. It's purpose is to reduce environmental emissions and be cost effective, but it is NOT even CLOSE when compared to R-407c.
The equipment manufactured for use for decades until last year worked on an environmentally unsafe R-22. The pressure at which this refrigerant evaporates and makes things cold is MUCH lower than the COMPLETELY different 410a which requires MUCH higher-levels, ENTIRE HVAC overhaul including in most cases all copper lines needed for transfer from the outside unit (condenser) to inside unit (evaporator).
407c on the other hand IS environmentally friendly, even more so with a Global Warming Indication of LESS than 410a, it WILL work with existing equipment and line sets, and does NOT operate at dangerous high levels.
The cost effects of switching from an existing R-22 over to 410a are ASTRONOMICAL!
The cost effects of switching from an existing R-22 over to 407c are reasonable, AS WELL AS EVEN MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY!
