The town of Falmouth is considering a pay as you throw waste removal system in upcoming years. While this system can be quite effective, it would be substantially more successful if recyclables were picked up weekly rather than bi-weekly. Recycling not only helps save the enviorment but would save Falmouth residents money if this new waste removal system was implimented as recycling would be free.
75% of trash is recyclable but only 30% is actually recycled (Do Something.org). It takes 95% less energy to make aluminum cans from recycled from recycled cans rather than raw ore. Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 trees and 17,000 gallons of water (University of Kentucky).
Now is the time to act! Tell the Board of Selectmen that you want weekly recycling pick-up.
