No New Quick Check on Mountain Ave/Washington St.

How many gas stations/convenience stores do we need in Hackettstown, NJ?  We already have 7 within a short driving distance with a possible Wawa on the horizon. The Mountain Ave./Bells Lane/Washington St. Quick Check project is a disaster in the making.

Homes have been purchased and are slated to be torn down.  The impact on the immediate area is substantial.  Home resale values will decrease.  How many more homes will we allow to be torn down completely or converted to multi-family residences, continuously decreasing our home values and appeal of our town?  We’re losing the quaint small town feel Hackettstown has always been recognized for.

Impact on traffic problems on all surrounding streets will be significant.  Washington Street has always been a bypass for Main Street/Rte. 46.  This will only increase with the addition of a significant commercial project in the area.  Without the addition of stop signs on Washington St. and additional lights on Mountain Ave., speeding, accidents, and potential hazards for our walking students will increase.  Not to mention the impact on traffic of the already strained 5 corners intersection and Water Street.

What positive impact can this possibly have on our town?
