Send Thanks to Colorado for Banning Greyhound Racing

According to Sunday's Associated Press,on March 9, Colorado is the latest state to ban

the "sport" of greyhound racing.

The bill making such racing illegal was signed on Monday by Gov. John Hickenlooper;

Colorado is now the thirty-ninth state to pass such a law.

According to Grey2kUSA, the bill came to fruition under the leadership of KC Becker,

the chief bill sponsor out of Boulder; Becker came on board the fight to ban

the racing practice after learning about the suffering of the dogs who are forced to race.

Just last Friday, a greyhound racing at an Arizona track was killed after falling into one

of the electrocuted rails, see the petition here:

Some council leaders in the area where the fatality occurred are hoping to see

greyhound racing banned in Arizona as well.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, breeders purposefully supply

a large number of greyhounds, and each year, surplus dogs are destroyed in droves.

Dogs who are not suitable for racing are often killed, as are those who become injured

or fail to perform at a desirable standard.

Way to go Colorado, may Arizona follow!
