Freedom from government control of our religion and our personal rights is what America is all about. Yet, we still let, and even embrace, the government's requirement of us to fill out an application asking them for permission to get married. The institution of governmental marriage liscensing has always been for purpose of controling the people not protecting them. It is time to stop this practice and let marriage be a sacrement of religion and a testament of love and commitment, not a way for the goverment to control it's citizens private lives. Please sign this petition to let State Governments know that marriage licensing by government officials is an archaic mandate that should not be required of the citizens of the United States of America any more. It is time we just Tell The Government who we are married to so they can protect us and our rights and not dictate them.
