This has been a hectic few weeks and without doubt the dreaded word "Meningitis" has very much, been once again, foremost in our minds. Another very serious reminder of the devastation this ruthless disease can cause was standing today at the grave of our daughter Terri on "cemetery sunday" - a day when family and friends come together to "remember" their loved ones. A sad day for all and a day when we all wonder "if only"..... Now that a vaccine has been licensed to eradicate most strains of "Men B" we have been highlighting such in the hope that other families will not lose their loved ones to same. Vaccine is the only preventative and by hopefully making people more aware of the symptoms and by encouraging people to sign the petition to encourage the Government to implement same as soon a possible into the childhood immunisation programme you will not find yourselves in the position we are today. To date over 14,000 people have signed the petition both on-line and on paper and same will be presented at Downing Street on 6th June. This is a random disease which can affect anyone, of any age at any time. We are not by no means, the only family who has experienced the devastation this can cause - take time to listen to link. Strange maybe for some of you reading this, but "celebrating" what for some is "milestones" in life is "just like any other day" without Terri. 2013 would have been the year of her 21st ....... and what a party that would have been, Terri was a daughter a sister a "funky" friend, a loving grand-daughter, cousin and niece, our heartbreaker and our heart maker. she was in her words "the bomb".
