Help Veterans and Military Personnel with PTSD

Everyday 21 veterans take their own lives. Tragically, military veterans kill themselves at a 50 percent higher rate than their civilian counterparts.
Marine Corp-funded study shows that Marines with at least one combat tour who reported PTSD symptoms were six times as likely to engage in aggressive behaviors than non PTSD Marines. More than a third of the adult perpetrators of the 43 worst mass killings since 1984 were U.S. military veterans.
The results of animal-assisted therapy programs for veterans and active-duty military are life-changing! That is why we, the undersigned, request your support of Hearts for Heroes (H4HUS) and their efforts to connect our vulnerable soldiers to animals trained to give them the help they need.

Dear Governor Cuomo:
Every day 21 U.S. military veterans commit suicide; even more veterans and military personnel suffering from PTSD turn to alcohol, drugs and violence. Hearts 4 Heroes (H4HUS) was founded to help these men and women heal. H4HUS has served 500 veterans and military service personnel who have been able to regain their self-esteem and rebuild their lives.
The equine and canine therapy programs of H4HUS are helping veterans adjust to life back home Licensed mental health care specialists guide participants to engage in nonverbal communication, problem solving, taking responsibility, relationship building and teamwork with the animals and their peers.
H4HUS was founded in 2013 to help end the suffering of veterans, military personnel and their families. H4HUS is saving lives: But now we need state funding to meet the needs of veterans and military personnel across New York State.
