SMOKING! YES I MIND!!

An estimated 100,000 Malaysians die every year from smoke- related illnesses, according to ministry statistics.

This number does not include people who die from second-hand smoke.

National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) firmly believes that smoking should be banned completely in all eateries nationwide including open-air premises such as recreational parks.

WHY should you support the ban?

Because, there is no risk-free level of second-hand smoke exposure; even brief exposure can be harmful to health.

Second-hand smoke harms children and adults, and the only way to fully protect non-smokers is to eliminate smoking completely in all public areas.

Among those adults who visited a restaurant approximately in one month, seven out of 10 have been exposed to second-hand smoke (8.6 million adults) according to Global Adult Tobacco Survey 2012 (GATS).

Don’t forget that second-hand smoke affects your family and friends too. So, don't just do it for yourself, do it for your family, friends and your community.

Do it because it's the right thing to do.
