Having a second midterm covering the rest of the topics of the course will boost the midterm mark and prepare the majority of the students to the final exam (which entails should increase the final average mark).
What if I had a good mark on the midterm?
The petition suggest adding a midterm in which the highest mark of the two midterms will be taken as the midterm mark. The second midterm should not affect your current mark unless you get a higher mark on the second midterm.
I already have a lot of studying to do, why would I want to do an extra midterm? Doing an extra midterm will prepare you for the final exam and give you some basis on how the final exam questions will be asked
