When my mom was visiting her doctor at steeplechase (minor blood work; with a local blood specialist; involving blood clots! No my mom doesn't have cancer I can assure you!) I noticed a couple of things! One there is a small chapel in the hospital's yard completely detached from the main building; and two steeplechase cancer center has a addictions rehabilitation program! One which is specifically about quitting smoking!
You might not know this! But from the beginning of the movement; Mary Baker Eddy was heavily involved in rehabilitating addicts! She was one of the most prominent members of the women's temperance movement and top proponents of the prohibition of liquor! Mary Baker Eddy often viewed her campaign to abolish all addictions as her greatest calling in life! (That is why she wrote it into the Christian science church Manuel that Christian scientists don't drink smoke or indulge in any other form of addictions! And why over coming and preventing any and all forms of addictions are such a prominent principal of Christian science teachings!) With such a long tradition of rehabilitating addicts; it only makes sense that the small nondenominational chapel on the steeplechase Robert wood Johnson medical center yard should be converted to Christian science as steeplechase cancer center fully partners with the Christian science community to fully integrate Christian science teachings into the addiction rehabilitation program at steeplechase cancer center! In fact; given that rehabilitating addicts is such a integral tradition of Christian science; establishing such a partner ship with Robert wood Johnson medical center and the steeplechase cancer center could be viewed as being about more then improving the hospital's resources or having a church do more to serve the local community! This is a matter of religious education and practice! A matter of religious freedom! Especially when you consider how this partnership would also signal a long over due reconciliation in a feud between Christian science faith healing teachings; and the modern medical system! (Though that is another story!) Please sign my petition if you agree this partnership should happen!
