It is the blackest of hearts, the lowest of society, the most evil of mankind, the darkest of souls that would intentionally brutally butcher an animal and take its life while it was bringing new life into the world. The butchering of a rhino whilst giving birth is unforgivable, the butchering of our iconic beasts must stop.
Who are we as people, if we cannot take a moment to sign a letter to try to stop the brutal and senseless slaughter? By signing this – you will be part of a movement to send strong warnings to the syndicates and other poachers to halt the insanity.

Why this letter is vital:The bail amount is insignificant to the masterminds behind the environmental crimes compared to the value of the poached rhino horns and is not a deterrent to the accused leaving the country.Recently foreign nationals who were out on bail have fled the country despite their passports being held by the authorities. We require the legal system to take its course against environmental criminals and when foreign nationals flee the country justice is not served.

We are deeply concerned about the brutal slaughter of iconic rhinos in South Africa. The brutal poaching of the rhino whilst giving birth renders us numb with disbelief at the level to which these people wallow in.
Your Worship, it is well known that the people being arrested have complete disregard for South African law, indeed laugh in its face and make a mockery of it, relaying this mockery to other poachers and syndicate members and ultimately back to the kingpins when they jump bail or get off with a tap on the wrist.
We beg you to set formal policy in your courts; that anyone arrested and charged with any wildlife crime, rhino poaching and or illegal possession of any rhino body part, be denied bail without hesitation.
Your Worship, we beg of you to not allow these people to laugh at our judicial system, please enforce stricter penalties and please deny ALL BAIL applied for. R1 million is nothing to these people.
Your Worship, it is acknowledged that the accused have a right to bail. However, poaching is out of control and this endangered species , treading our African planet for millions of years is now threatened to the point of extinction. Our tourism dollars and South Africa’s Big Five as it is known will be forever gone. We are obliged as the people of the nation, to stand united to protect our heritage, not just the rhino – but all animals of Africa. Your worship .. they are Africa.
We appeal to your national and international civic responsibility – please Sir .. deny bail, don’t let the perpetrators free to flee.
