On November 10, 2009, a Board Member of the USACTC, Inc. sent a letter via e-mail to the USACTC membership stating the Board's recommendation to seek AKC recognition for the Coton de Tulear. He stated that ballots would be arriving shortly for a membership vote.
It has come to the attention of several of the members of the USACTC that pro-AKC individuals have been solicited for USACTC membership on the day before the ballots were mailed, Nov. 11, 2009, and promised prorated membership dues. They were encouraged to fax their application for Regular or preferably Family Membership, if possible, so they would accrue two votes for the AKC recognition proposal. Individuals who were known to foster anti-AKC beliefs were not offered this same opportunity to join the 2009 membership. Furthermore, prorating membership dues is prohibited under the Constitution and By-laws of the USACTC. We hereby demand that the balloting be postponed until ALL individuals (pro or con AKC) are offered a chance to join the USACTC for the year 2009, so that all interested parties may vote on the AKC proposal.
