FREEDOM FOR ALL, LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD.

Help me petition our leaders to enact a law that demands that all imports, goods coming into this country, be manufactured using US standards: wage standards, OSHA standards, and environmental standards. This would level the playing field for the American worker, jobs would stay here (because it would be just as expensive somewhere else). Further, it would prevent US companies from using and abusing foreign workers by: paying them less, having them work in unsafe environments, and cause them to pollute and degrade their own countries.

In today's' world there are few incentives for corporate boards to make moral decisions. We allow corporations to position for best advantage without regard for the workers and communities they impact. Currently, businesses undermine our country's labor system by bringing in cheap goods made with cheaper labor.

Secondly, these same captains of industry spit in the face of the American people by sidestepping the laws that have been enacted in order to protect the environment, and the safety of others and to ensure that people are paid a living wage for work accomplished.

Third, American workers are now forced to compete with workers making the same product without the burden of environmental regulation, labor laws, or safety regulations. I believe that we would improve the lives of workers both here and in other countries and produce better goods if we cared enough to expect American companies to live up to American standards.

This has caused the American worker to work more hours, with fewer resources, for less money and fewer benefits. Currently, the American worker works more hours than workers in any other major industrialized country including North Korea. This leaves little time interact with your family, support your church or other spiritual community, and no time to feed your mental, emotional, and spiritual health.  No wonder we often perceived in other countries as having human dignity issues, and a general distain for the humanness of all. .

We cannot keep measuring success in the form of dividends to the shareholder. Most of us don’t own shares anyway. Success should be based on how well corporations treat the members of the community they are a part of; isn’t truth, loyalty and fairness to all humans a more worthy goal. . The truth is that ethical behaviors are based on standards of caring; however, when monetary success at any cost surpasses all other values “doing for the right things " becomes a thing of the past.

 Further, we cannot police the world, but we can police what comes into this country. We are the world’s largest market, I think business want to have access to our buyers.
