Stop violence against gays in Iraq

Target:
Congress and President Obama
Human Rights Watch reports that hundreds of gay Iraqis are being brutally tortured and murdered by suspected Shiite extremists in Baghdad and other cities, while neither US forces nor the Iraqi government does anything to intervene.  The Iraqi government's Human Rights Ministry has condemned the killings, but stronger steps must be taken to curb the violence.

We the undersigned urge you to pressure Iraqi authorities to take whatever measures are needed to curb the anti-gay violence that Human Rights Watch reports is being carried out by Shiite extremist militias with impunity.  Hundreds of gay Iraqis have already been tortured and killed, and the violence shows no signs of decreasing.

Please help insure that the Iraqi government (perhaps with the help of US troops?) protects its own citizens from brutal "social cleansing" murders.

Thank you for your attention to this crucial matter.

It is a crime to make a crime of one's inate sexuality. We do not choose how we are. If the sexuality is abhorrent to the community in Irag, deport them if you must but don't hang them for being human.

Being gay myself I strongly believe action should be taken as we as a community also deserve to live our lives like everyone else and we deserve happiness too.

Such a punishment just for loving someone? That it sick!
