Protect Access to Abortion in Indiana

Indiana already has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation and one lawmaker wants to make access to abortion disappear completely. Right now that's unconstitutional, but under a Trump appointed supreme court, it could become reality. That's why we need to urge Indiana lawmakers not to enact this horrifying legislation that would end a woman's right to choose there.

Currently, women can't access abortion after 12 weeks, even though the time of viability is typically considered somewhere between 20-24 weeks. State Rep. Curt Nisly says he wants to outlaw abortion in all circumstances anytime after the time of fertilization. This would mean that even victims of rape and incest would be forced to carry babies to term and then potentially even co-parent with their assailant.

In a nation where access to information about birth control and actual birth control is already difficult to come by, the number of unwanted pregnancies would become astronomical, leading to a high number of unwanted and not cared for children in Indiana. Obviously, the brunt of childcare falls to women, meaning that this ban would disproportionately disadvantage women.

Please sign this petition asking Indiana lawmakers to avoid this extreme and harmful legislation.
