Ban use and production of plastic bags and styrofoam products

I've started a petition to ban the production and use of plastic bags and styrofoam products. Here's why it's important:
Plastic bags distributed by grocery stores and retail stores end up in our streets and waterways. They can kill wildlife not to mention babies and toddlers. Plastic bags take about 1,000 years to degrade and are made of toxic materials. Styrofoam also ends up in the landscapes and waters and never degrades.
More people should use reusable bags for their shopping needs. Not that long ago, everyone did this. It is easy to take them along with you; I use them all the time.
Montgomery County Maryland just issued a ban on the use of styrofoam products including packing peanuts. Good for that region!! Some grocery stores in the D.C. area give back five cents for use of each reusable bag as an incentive.
Positive, green changes easily can be made. Let's make the changes for the good of the planet, the animals and us!!
Contact your legislators to push for these changes and whoever else can affect change.
Thanks!
