Force the government to invest more in this countries Opiate addiction problem and help SAVE LIVES!

Of course there are many types of addiction in this country and all of them are extremely worrisome. They all threaten the lives of so many people. Men, Women and yes, even children. The one that seems to be doing more irreparable damage is the addiction to opiates drugs like pain killers and herion. It's a very serious issue that is taking good people's lives at record numbers these days. There are forms of help out there for Opiate addicts but nowhere near enough and what is available IS NOT WORKING. The medications Buprenorphine and Suboxone/Naloxone have helped many people finally find what they thought they never could. Sobriety! However, Dr's continuing to limit the availability of generic Buprenorphine in favor of the more expensive Suboxone/Naloxone because they claim that it has a higher rate of abuse. The sad reality is though is that they both can be abused and they are all the time. They continue to tell people that they "can no longer prescribe them Buprenorphine and that they can only subscribe them Suboxone/Naloxone" which has a damaging effect to a lot of opiate addicts nationwide. Some people cannot physically cope with the side effects of Suboxone/Naloxone and are irreversibly sent back to the "streets" to find the medication they need or even worse, go back to using heroine which is one reason that the Death rates from Opiate use has continued to rise even with the so called treatments. I understand that a lot of people want to shame drug addicts and say "well they did it to themselves" and I completely agree is many circumstances. Opiate abuse is different is that pain medication has been over prescribed for years by Dr's essentially getting their patients addicted to a drug just because the patient was trying to alleviate the pain. It's no different than pretty much any other medicine that doctors prescribe in hopes to help symptoms subside except that they are super addictive and super expensive and therefore once the patient is addicted they resort to getting heroine from the streets just to help themselves feel normal. I'm asking that we all stand up and force the government to force the hand of the corrupt pharmaceutical companies and doctors who claim they are doing right by the patients. Yet they charge $300, $400, and sometimes even $500 a month for literally a 10 minute visit to the doctor office. Just to write you a subscription for a drug that cost another almost $500 for a months supply. That's roughly $800-$1000 a month. They are simply taking advantage of the current situation and making tons of money off of it. It's sad, it's costing people their lives and ruining families in the process. There is a cheaper alternative to Suboxone/Naloxone already on the market in generic Buprenorphine but they refuse to prescribe it at there benifit. Let's fight for these addicts who are trying to get there lives back but continute to struggle because the system is set up against them!
