We demand a massive overhaul of the entire animal welfare system in Canada to include the following:
- All shelters and their key personal causing harm to animals should face a mininum of ten years in prison and the shelter may be closed down.
- Longer jail time for all animal abusers and jail time for any of their accomplices we request a minimum of ten years imprisonment.
- All Puppy Mills stopped. Puppy Mill owners no matter what religion or faith need to be charged and face up to a minimum of ten years imprisonment and or a fine up to 250,000.
- All dog breeders to be registerered, to end backyard breeders.
- The GOC to implement a cap on spay & neuter costs for all animals with vets in Canada.
- No killing of dogs, cats and other domestic animals in Canada for human consumption
- Registered charities and local rescues approved and trained to exercise a right to seize animals in dangerous situations
- Set proper ethical euthanizations for all animals No MORE Gas Chambers
- Accountability for Humane Society & SPCA's in Canada for not following through with investigations and calls.
- We ask that animals be re-homed into government run sanctuaries, in which the government would use our tax dollars to operate. These sanctuaries would be run by compassionate, honest people NOT for the PURPOSE of PROFIT! Our tax dollars are going to shelters for the purpose of euthanasia and gassing, when it could be spent on re-homing, sanctuaries whom would spay/neuter all animals to end over population, these sanctuaries would be run solely by volunteers, no one gets paid thus putting an end to greed.
- We also ask that the Canadian Government change the laws permitting only the SPCA the rights to remove animals in dangerous situations. Time and time again calls have been placed to the SPCA and other government organization’s asking for help with animal abuse situations and 99% of the time those calls go without follow-up. When asked why they did not follow up on these calls their excuse is "there are too many calls and not enough agents to follow up on them" For this reason we ask that the Government allow local rescues Power under the Law and the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty. We also ask that local rescues be permitted to recommend charges to crown counsel for prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.
- We are also asking for a cap on veterinary costs, many veterinarians are over charging and that is the reason most people cannot afford to have their pets spayed or neutered, we ask that the government make it mandatory to spay and neuter your pets and have costs covered by our tax dollars, instead of using those dollars to euthanize unwanted, abandoned un-spayed/ neutered pets.
