Don't Kill Pigeons and Sell Them as Pate!

An Amsterdam pest control company called Duke Faunabeheer is killing wild pigeons and selling them to butchers, who sell them as "wildpate," a delicacy associated with wood pigeons from the countryside. Up to 1,000 pigeons meet this fate each year.

Pigeons are misunderstood and pose no serious threat to urban environments. Killing or relocating them won't affect their populations long-term. The U.S. National Pest Control Association recommends exclusion -- blocking roosting spots with barriers -- as the best method to control pigeons.

Killing pigeons will not effectively control their populations, and selling them as "wildpate" misleads the public and encourages further killing. Please sign the petition to urge authorities to ban the sale of pigeons as pate!

We, the undersigned, are concerned that an Amsterdam pest control company called Duke Faunabeheer is killing wild pigeons and selling them to butchers, who sell them as "wildpate," a delicacy associated with wood pigeons from the countryside. We understand that up to 1,000 pigeons meet this fate each year.

Killing pigeons will not effectively control their populations, and selling them as "wildpate" misleads the public and encourages further killing. We respectfully urge you to ban the sale of urban "pest" pigeons as wildpate. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
