Little Miracle... Veterinarians are trying to save this little puppy, the sole survivor of a litter of five, which killed all four of her littermates on Saturday night, November 3, 2007 in an arson at an abandoned home on the west side of Detroit.

Neighbors reported that a group of teens took the puppies into the abandoned home on the 7400 block of Faust and fled after setting a fire, said Detroit Police Officer Jennifer Halfacer. Neighbors also recount hearing them yelling "fire, fire". Some of the puppies were found hog-tied. "It was really sad and disgusting," said Halfacer, who came up with the name Miracle.

After Detroit firefighters pulled 2-month-old Miracle from the burning house, Halfacer took her to a rescue in Oakland County, where she volunteers. On Sunday, the rescue service moved the bandaged puppy to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services in Bloomfield Hills. Veterinarians said Miracle has first, second and third degree burns to 80% of her body.

"Right now her chances are somewhat guarded," Dr. Karen Fidell, a veterinarian, said Monday. "It's 50-50 at best. She's been treated for some very serious burns."

This is the most disgusting act of cruelty I've heard about in my lifetime. Please inact laws to prevent people who would do this from escaping severe punishment. Do what ever it takes...the next victim might well be a child.

This kind of purposeville torture comes from an evil soul. This should be considered a felony...and if children are found guilty the parents should be held responsible and the juvienile record kept as an open record.

I love animals and it makes me ashamed to live in a country where we are supposed to have a great justice system and rights for all except animals are the exception? How much sense does that make? If a person gets away with lighting animals on fire they are going to move up to worse crimes and think it's okay to burn people, maybe human babies this time. People who abuse animals have deep seeded psychological issues which if they are not controlled and confronted the criminal will become more confident and become a serial killer. This problem needs to be addressed and there needs to be laws protecting all life, for our animals lives are the most precious thing we have! Our pets LIVE for us, we need to seek justice for the innocents who were harmed by these sick psychotic people!

Please, animals and people are the same except animals don't go around lighting little baby humans on fire, it's a felony to burn humans it should be the same rules for any living creature!

don't just help Miracle...Help all animals who never get to experience a life filled with love and happiness. Their loyalty, dedication, and love is something that only they can give. Bring these murderers to Justice. It makes me sick to my stomach that a human being could do this. They need to be locked up and evaluated because something is not right! Be a voice for the unheard!

Those arsonists need to put in jail. They're murderers! Whats happening to our country? We have no respect for innocence or life. It makes me sick to know that people like that can murder innocent beautiful lifes and walk the streets to do it again. Don't Just Imagine your pet being burned...Imagine being burned yourself, imagine the horrible pain you would feel. Imagine someone setting animals on fire and walking away as they screamed in pain. They did nothing to deserve this. All they wanted was a family to love and to love them back. If something is not done about this...Then I am embarassed to be an American. They deserve the right to life. Be a voice for the little ones who cannot speak up for themselves.

This story makes me absolutely sick! These kids need to be held responsible for the pain and suffering they inflicted on these poor helpless animals. This crime needs to be a felony period! Find the killers!!!

The link between animal abuse and physical abuse and crime shows that we need to start early in prosecuting crimes of this nature. It makes me sick to think that these kids are still free and healthy while these poor animals suffered. The more time they are free, the more time they will have to set a bad example for other kids who will grow up to believe there are no reprecussions for their actions. Detroit has enough animal abuse problems with overpopulation and confinement...don't let this be added to the list of accepted crimes.
