Don't Bomb Syria!

It's time to stop the insanity.

Fact: War feeds the U.S. economy. It keeps us a powerful nation.

But war is now becoming the "soul" of our nation. Is this what we citizens truly want?

Our emotions are being appealed to when told that we must intervene in Syria for humanitarian reasons. The truth is if we bomb Syria even more innocent Syrians will die. It will make us even more hated by our enemies, which will fuel even more terrorism. And it will most certainly compound the numbers of men and women in the military already killed, maimed and/or emotionally devastated by the horrors of the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A broader question is: What is war doing to our collective psyche?

The U.S. bombs other countries resulting in death and destruction. Although we might hear about it on the radio or read it somewhere, we don't actually see the devastation. War news gradually becomes abstract, almost unreal. But reality surely "bites" us when U.S. citizens are attacked by terrorists. This feels real.

Our nation deserves a noble legacy. One our children can be proud of.

We Americans need to do some serious soul searching. It's time to remove the blinders of our comfortable lives and take action before all is lost.
