UK theaters are planning to host Ugandan performer Bobi Wine (whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi), a rapper who advocates murdering gay people and writes lyrics about killing them. For example: "Fire will burn the batty [gay] man. Burn all the batty man. All Ugandans get behind me and fight the batty man." The rapper is scheduled to appear at the Drum Theatre in Birmingham and the Troxy Theatre in London on August 10, 11, 23 and 24.
Unlike punk acts who ironically sing about killing or beating up cops, politicians and others, Kyagulanyi is serious about murdering gay people, and his views are popular in his home country. He says, ‘I’m proud to be fighting for the family and the culture. Uganda does not support or allow gay people. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." Ugandan gays are terrified of him.
Rap music has a very strong and obvious effect on impressionable young people. Allowing Bobi Wine to perform will expose the UK's LGBT community to ridicule, harassment and danger. Please sign the petition to urge the Drum Theatre and Troxy to cancel Bobi Wine's performances!
