Taking Back " The Rink "

We the " SKATERS " have had enough with the Management Baltimore City has put in charge of " Shake & Bake Family Fun Center " Address is 1601 Pennsylvania Ave , Baltimore MD 21217. The skate community is bigger than what is shown to some . Its a outlet , stress reliever , activety or hobby and to some its a LIFE STYLE. Our rink has been corrupted with liquor and celebrity parties . This rink was placed in community for Numerous reasons and this is not one of them . Most of the skaters who come to this facility have been patrons since childhood years. Under the current management we have watched the integrity of the rink take a turn for the worse.
While we understand the need to hold functions to raise money, we feel certain things compromise the standards and purpose of the rink which is skating. In addition to this after the event is held the conditions of the rink are left poor leaving the skaters to skate under sub par conditions. These conditions damage the wheels on our skates and also are potential for injuries.
This is a family fun center and this used to be the image of the center and now its turned into nightlife.We fear that by this continued action it will bring down the neighborhood and bring more crime into the area.
We believe we can come together to help raise money in a more community oriented way while maintaining the integrity of the rink...the "home" of the skaters.
