Protect the UK economy: Loosen harsh EU immigration targets

Lower levels of migration from the European Union to the UK following Brexit will cause long-lasting damage to the UK economy, according to new research. In the light of this sobering economic forecast, the Tories' commitment to extremely low EU immigration levels looks even more like irrational xenophobia.

Please sign this petition to demand that immigration targets are increased to a realistic level in order to sustain our economy post-Brexit.

The financial loss to the UK as a result of too little migration from the EU is predicted to be severe and lengthy. The report suggests that loss of immigration from the European Union could cost the UK a staggering loss of 5.4% GDP (annual value of our produced goods) by 2030.

The cultural, social and economic enrichment of people moving between countries is central to human progress. The rich results are part of our everyday lives. From the food we eat to the people we love, from the services we rely on to the technology we use, the benefits of not closing ourselves off to the world are obvious.

Harsh immigration targets are a false flag that blame the wrong people for austerity and our economic struggles. Please sign this petition to say no to hate, and yes to a prosperous future. Please sign and demand that the government increase their net EU immigration targets to a realistic level in light of the recent report.

The UK government:

Proposed immigration caps from the EU have been predicted by experts to lead to a huge and long-term economic loss for the UK.

Please increase the EU immigration targets to a level that responds to this potential loss from damage to trade.
